Tuva Halse says: "Panorama is my second work for OJKOS. The word refers to a wide and coherent view, like a mountain range stretching along the horizon, but also to a complete picture – an overview and a perspective. For me, it is also about home: Molde, memories, belonging, and identity. With the work, I attempt to describe this panorama, both in physical and figurative sense.
The music draws inspiration from Baroque structures and chamber music forms, and explores the meeting between the melodic, tonal, and through-composed on one side, and the open, more atonal, and improvised on the other. In other words – this will be cinematic, expressive, and lyrical!
As special guests, I have invited my regular collaborators Benjamín Gísli Einarsson on piano and Morten Georg Gismervik on guitar and cello, who complete the fantastic OJKOS ensemble."
Tuva Halse has quickly established herself as a distinct voice in the Nordic jazz scene. In 2024, she was appointed NTNU ambassador for her "playful lyrical nerve and rare, courageous sensitivity in tone and expression". The same year, she received DNB's #huninvesterer scholarship, which resulted in the commissioned work Air Music, premiered at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival with Håkon Kornstad as a guest. During Oslojazz 2025, she also gained attention for her performance together with Joshua Redman and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra - "It wasn't the superstar, but the super substitute that electrified a packed Cosmopolite during the opening of this year's Oslojazz" (Jazz in Norway). Inspired by nature, relationships, and human emotions, she composes music with improvisation at its core. In it, one finds traces of both folk music, classical music, and Nordic jazz, played with a warmth and intimacy that captivates the listener.
