22 July Centre

The permanent exhibition at the 22 July Centre documents the terror attacks in Oslo and on Utøya island on 22 July 2011. The exhibition shows how the attack have affected individuals and society at large, including its short and long-term impact on public discourse.

The events of 22 July are reconstructed through images, texts, films and objects. The exhibition also shows the immediate reactions to the attacks, the numerous demonstrations of grief and solidarity throughout Norway and the legal processes in the years afterwards.

In a separate room, the lives of the 77 victims are commemorated by telling their stories, saying their names and showing faces as well as through the accounts of their friends and relatives.

The exhibitions include photographic evidence, excerpts of surveillance cameras and interviews with witnesses of the atrocities in Oslo city centre and on Utøya island.
