Gamle Raadhus Scene is run by Opera til folket (Opera to the people). The premises will be filled with music, opera, rehearsals for larger productions, courses, meetings, gatherings for freelancers and much, much more. The historic venue serves as a haunt for Oslo's opera singers and musicians, as well as the city's residents.
Gamle Raadhus Scene is located on the second floor of Gamle Raadhus on Christiania Torv. The address is Christiania Torv 1 and the entrance is from the square right next to Skyggesiden bar & grill.
The building was Christiania's first town hall. It was built in 1641 by councilor Lauritz Hansen with a contribution from the king.
Opera til folket is a voluntary organization that runs Gamle Raadhus Scene.They rent out the premises for various events such as concerts, meetings, conferences and parties. Gamle Raadhus Scene has also become a popular rehearsal hotel which is well suited for larger ensembles, opera and theatre productions.
