The Norwegian jazz audience has truly opened their eyes to the Italian rising star Francesca Tandoi after some exhilarating concerts at both Jazzfest in Trondheim and the Bærum Jazz Festival in recent years. Therefore, it is a pleasure to present Tandoi with her own trio at the Oslo Jazz Festival!
Tandoi has her roots in bop, inspired by the likes of Oscar Peterson, but along with her loyal and flexible trio, she shifts between tempos and styles. From the energetic and virtuosic to the more lyrical and serene. All the while executed with exceptional and stylish technique.
Her latest album Bop Web has been unanimously praised for mixing classic bebop and hard bop with a modern twist, creating a delightful listening experience. In addition to six albums with her own trio, she has also held a permanent spot in saxophonist Scott Hamilton's quartet.
In recent years, she has sold out jazz clubs all over Europe, including Blue Note in Milan, Bimhuis in Amsterdam, and ZigZag in Berlin. Now it's Herr Nilsen's and the Oslo Jazz Festival's turn to experience Tandoi's stunning piano playing.
