We’ve gathered some suggestions on things to do that will up the romance factor of your stay – and hopefully make you fall in love with Oslo as well.

1. Take a walk together

What better way to spend time together than by taking a walk? With phones turned off and surrounded by fresh air, you’ll be free to just talk, hold hands and enjoy the many fine sights of Oslo at your own pace.

To add some fairy tale vibes to your hike, walk between the wooden houses at Damstredet and Telthusbakken. Make sure to steal a kiss at the nearby Kjærlighetsstien (‘the love trail’).

The historic grounds of Akershus fortress are also great for outdoor romance. Bring some take-out cups of delicious Oslo coffee and take a break at one of the fortress benches while taking in the view of the Oslo fjord.

If you have a lot to talk about, the walking trails along the Akerselva river stretch eight kilometres, with plenty of waterfalls, repurposed factories and cosy eateries to explore along the way.

3. Visit a museum

A museum visit can most certainly be romantic! It stirs up emotions, sparks conversation and lets you show off your knowledge of the topics at hand. It's often cheaper than seeing a movie, too.

Oslo’s grand old artists Edvard Munch and Gustav Vigeland both immortalized love with all its ups and downs in their works, and a trip to the National MuseumMUNCH or Vigeland Museumis a great addition to your romantic itinerary.

The Fram Museum lets you cuddle up on the deck of the world’s strongest wooden ship, underneath projections of northern lights.

Insider tip: Several museums in Oslo are open late on Thursdays, if you’d like to experience that enticing museum evening ambience.
