Getting around with the Oslo Pass

Oslo’s main public transport system is made up of metro (T-bane), trams, and buses, all run by Ruter.

The metro connects the city centre with suburbs and major attractions such as Holmenkollen and the ferry to the Oslo Fjord islands. Trams run frequently through central Oslo, while buses cover the rest of the city and nearby areas.

The metro, trams and buses run on a unified timetable, and real time departure information is available in the Ruter app or at stops across the city. 

Customers with Oslo Pass can expand their area of travel by buying tickets for extra zones (zones 4Ø, 4SØ, 4NV, 4S and 5). Tickets for an extra zone may be purchased if the customer already holds a valid ticket for any partial stretch of the journey.

Tickets for extra zones may be purchased in the Ruter app or with cash from the driver aboard buses and boats (500 NOK and 1000 NOK are not accepted aboard any means of transport). Be aware that you cannot buy tickets for extra zones onboard the subway, trams or Vy's trains. 

The Oslo Pass is valid for transportation to Oslo Airport Gardermoen with local trains operated by Vy. Please note that the transportation with Vy buses, Flytoget (airport express train) and Flybussen (airport express bus) are not included in the Oslo Pass.

Transportation to Torp Airport
The airport of Torp is located far from Oslo and is not available with local public transport covered by the Oslo Pass. See: How to reach the airports around Oslo.

The Oslo Pass can be used on the boats to Bygdøy (ferry to the Bygdøy museums), to the islands in the Oslo Fjord, or to Asker and Nesodden, as well as to Drøbak (only running in the summer months).

The night buses run between 1 am and 4 am on Saturdays and Sundays. The Oslo Pass can be used on night buses.
