Grumshetens teater ("Theatre of Cruelty") was established as a separate group in 1992, and since 2002 the theater has had its own stage.
The theatre has its artistic expression within the physical rather than the intellectual arena, and its ideology is embedded in the visions of the French surrealist poet Antonin Artaud.
Its dramatic medium is the human body - the flux and flow of its movements, its sounds and silences, its discords and harmonies - in short, the anatomy of emotion - innate to us all, but tamed and forgotten by the forces of society.
It is Grushomhetens Teater's aim to lead the audience back to this forgotten land of organic form. Even when a performance is founded on a traditional dramatic work of art or literary text, the language will be subordinate, and will often disappear altogether.
