DS Børøysund is a steamer from 1908, it is owned and operated by the voluntary organization Norsk Veteranskibsklub. The veteran ship is powered by an original coal-fired steam engine. The ship is used during the summer for pleasant trips on the Oslo Fjord, or for chartered trips. Most trips have an overarching theme with lectures and some entertainment. You may also purchase food and drinks on board. Børøysund was among the first vessels in the country to receive the National Heritage Board's status as a "ship worthy of protection". It is also the only certified passenger ship in the country that sails with an original engine and an original coal-fired boiler.
Norsk Veteranskibsklub has no set opening hours, but responds to email inquiries. They can be visited at Nordre Akershuskai on Tuesdays and Saturdays all year round.
