Det Norske Teatret

The Norwegian Theatre is home to Norway’s largest theatre stage and offers a wide-ranging repertoire suitable for audiences of all ages.

The theatre has four stages in total and also performs at Rommen Scene in Groruddalen. At The Norwegian Theatre, you can experience everything from musicals that rival Broadway productions to children’s theatre, new drama from Norway and abroad, and classic works.

The Nynorsk language has been an important part of the theatre’s DNA since its founding in 1913, when it played a central role in building a distinct Norwegian identity.

Today, the theatre stands as a modern venue that reflects contemporary society while continuing to explore the important questions of who we are.
