The Royal Palace

The building is in neo-classical style with a facade of stuccoed brick, and was completed in 1849.

The Royal Palace Park surrounds the palace on all sides and features grassy areas, majestic trees, small ponds and statues.



Changing of the guards every day at 1.30 pm.

Service in the Palace Chapel on Sundays at 11 am.

Guided public tours are available during the summer season.

From April to September, His Majesty The King’s Guard, the Norwegian Armed Forces Staff Band, and the Royal Norwegian Navy Band hold guard parades through the centre of Oslo. See the Armed Forces’ website for more information (in Norwegian)
