Cinemateket

In two of Oslo’s best screening rooms, you can see classics, highlight from film history and new releases, six days a week.

Many of the films are special imports to Norway. Some of the screenings are part of longer series, letting you explore different periods in film history, genres or directors. There are also regular events where films are placed into context of psychoanalysis, science, philosophy, architecture and photography.

Every year, Cinemateket arranges several film festivals, like the 70mm Film Festival and the Oslo Silent Film Festival. Films from the South, Human International Documentary Film Festival and Oslo Fusion International Film Festival are all hosted by Cinemateket as well.

On weekends Barnas Cinematek (Eng: The Children’s Cinematheque) sets up films for children of all ages.

The Film Café serves refreshments – also in the screening rooms.
