Universitetets Gamle festsal is used for lectures, concerts and ceremonies. One of Norway's most famous decorative painters, Peder F. Wergmann, decorated the hall in the 1800s.
The auditorium was used for parliamentary meetings in the mid-1800s until Parliament moved into its own building in 1866.
